Thank You
On behalf of the leadership of the Association of
Independent Research Institutes and our respective institutions (The
Salk Institute for Biological Studies and The Scripps Research
Institute), thank you for joining us in La Jolla to consider the most
effective ways for information technology to keep pace with the
needs of our scientists.
The vision for this intimate exchange sprung from a
presentation at the 2009 AIRI Annual Meeting in
Seattle. As we spoke with our peers across
the country about the “petabyte storage challenge,” we came to the
realization that each of us is facing a similar explosion of data - and
by sharing ideas, solutions and failures all will benefit. We assembled a stellar group of people who will
shared firsthand about the
changes we can anticipate in scientific data generation along with
system architects who will present their best ideas to meet the
challenge.
We are grateful to those
who stepped forward to present their ideas and to share their
experiences. We hope everyone – speakers, attendees, and vendors –
have come away from this meeting with clearer knowledge of the costs, tools,
strategies, and technologies that will shape the future of scientific
data storage. Most important, we hope that the personal
connections forged or renewed provide a basis for
collaboration and sharing that is the hallmark of membership in AIRI.
Below you can find the links to all of the
presentations.
We also ask that you complete your evaluation form by
March 1, 2010. The
link was sent to your email that we have on file for you.
Sincerely,
Frank
